Extra info
Nestling below the ancient village of Marvão, which is located at a height of 862 meters, is the Ammaia Golf Club built within the natural park of the Mountain of São Mamede.
This an 18 hole course and has three water hazards. The first 11 holes and last 3 are all on fairly even ground. Hole 12 and 15 however are located behind the clubhouse in a very steep area. Hole 12 is par 5 and to reach the green, which is on two different levels and at a distance of 508 meters, a tough uphill climb and a high level of endurance is required.
Hole 13 is the “ex-libris” of the course. It is a par 3 and is 157 meters long. The green is long and slopes downwards towards a small lake on the lefthand side. Two stategically placed bunkers defend the front and the righthand side of the green.
