Extra info
The championship standard course offers a variety of holes from links style to parkland, and with its mature tree lined fairways, areas of gorse and heather, and just a touch of water, provides a true test of golf in a delightful setting. The course is built on a free draining sandy subsoil which Peter Alliss in his book 'The Good Golf guide' describes as 'near ideal golfing terrain'.
Holes of particular note are; The 9th at 433 yards, which doglegs sharply 80 yards before the well protected green, and requires a bold shot with a long iron or wood to make the green in two. The 15th at 516 yards which needs a straight drive alongside the lake, and the beautiful 17th which requires steady nerves for the 190 yard tee shot over the lake to a raised green guarded by bunkers.
A computer controlled irrigation system ensures that the course stays in peak condition all year round and is rarely closed due to adverse weather conditions
