In 1989 a group of Catalan businessmen, joint by their interest for the game of golf and settled in the area of the Baix Empordà, decided to create a high level golf and residential complex.
In order to obtain this objective, a land with suitable characteristics was looked for, needing to be central and well situated right in the centre of the Costa Brava. Furthermore, full trust was put in the design of the North American Robert von Hagge, one of the world´s best architects for golf courses.
In 1989 a property of 125 hectares, located in the village of Gualta, was purchased. In 1990 the construction of the driving range and the first 18 holes began. In 1991 the Green Course (9 holes) was inaugurated and at the beginning of 1992 the Blue Course (9 holes).
During 1993 the remaining 9 holes were built and called the Gold Course. The Club house was inaugurated coincidating with the Amateur Spanish Championship in September 1996..
