Extra info
As you take the dirt road that winds its way to Umdoni Park, you might have some concerns as to where you will end up! As you turn the corner that affords a glimpse of the ocean, you will note the old brick windmill below and the quaint golf clubhouse to the right. This picture alone will make you realise that it was worth tackling the road.

The result of arriving at this ‘hidden gem’ is that you are about to enjoy a superb golfing experience. The golf course belongs to the Umdoni Park Trust and it is maintained by the trust for its 300 members (and visitors) that truly cherish this surprising layout on the hillsides overlooking the Indian Ocean.

The land was donated by Sir Frank Reynolds in the 1920’s and incorporated nearby Botha House, which was kept for the use of visiting Presidents of South Africa and sometimes used by incumbent cabinet ministers. Today, Botha House is available to the general public, as it has been transformed into a guesthouse.

Umdoni is a very hilly golf course, but it is also a scenically exquisite one. At times, the climb upwards is as though you are on a stairway to heaven. I say this because, as you look back down over the clubhouse towards the sea, there can be no better view of Kwazulu Natal’s natural beauty. The holes on the course are extremely well designed around the natural contours of this magnificent terrain and the feeling on this golf course is that man has done little to improve on nature
