The first impression of this club, founded in 1910, will be when walking through the spacious open plan clubhouse. Arrival onto the palm decked terrace gives an overview of the 18th hole, and that impression will be of a tree-lined course, narrow in perspective.

Indeed this is so, as the fairways are narrowed by avenues of a variety of established trees on truly undulating terrain. On this course it will be rare to find a fl at lie and many of the fairways slope quite severely from either left to right or right to left. The undulations also allow for uphill and downhill holes leading, in the majority of cases, to flat round or oval greens.

Umbogintwini has traditionally battled for water and in dry weather the fairways can be hard. The redeeming factor is that when the rains have come and gone, the course has a lush green sheen to it and it is quite delightful to play.

Whatever the weather patterns the main criteria, when playing this course, is a need for accuracy. This is especially so off the tees, and careful club selection is required to compensate for uphill and downhill shots to the greens.

From the high vantage points of the course, there are superb sea views and panoramic vistas of the surrounding countryside
