Founded in 1893, Wiesbadener is Germany's oldest club, although its present course was not laid out until 1911. The club enjoys a peaceful location amidst magnificent species of mature trees in the wooded foothills of the Taunus range five kilometres from the famous spa town of Wiesbaden, in the Frankfurt-Rhein-Main region.
This venerable course built by Englishmen and Scots at the turn of the century is nevertheless not the oldest in the country - this title goes to the "Old Course" at the nearby Homburger Golf Club in Bad Homburg, the area's other famous spa (see individual entries under "more clubs in the area). Wiesbadener was fully modernised in 2002 by the reputed architect bureau of Christoph Stadler & Dirk Decker, who completely rebuilt tees and greens and updated the course to modern standards.
Der älteste Golfclub Deutschlands wurde im Jahre 1893 von Engländern und Schotten gegründet. Die heutige Anlage des Clubs befindet sich seit 1911 auf den Gehrn-Wiesen am Chausseehaus. Der leicht hügelige Platz erfordert ein akkurates Spiel, da Bäche, Bunker und der sehr alte Baumbestand oft spielentscheidende, strategische Herausforderungen bieten.
