Extra info
Fanø Golf Links is situated in magnificent scenery in the middle of an incredibly beautiful, undulating dune and heather area near “Fanø North Sea Resort”.
The course was established in 1901 as a part of the international seaside resort, and is the oldest golf course in Denmark. It was designed by a Scotsman named Dunlop, and bears a striking resemblance to many of the famous classical Scottish courses.
In 1930 the course was expanded to 18 holes, and, as was cited at the time, “Fanø can pride itself on having one of the most beautiful and interesting golf courses in Europe”.
The course is situated behind the first row of dunes, lies very attractively among dunes, and is surrounded by heather and lyme grass. Fairways are placed in the low areas in the dune landscape, and the dunes are the rough. Several of the tees are on the tops of dunes, from which there is a breathtaking view over the lovely scenery of Fanø.
