A five hundred metre tree lined drive form the entrance gates to the Clubhouse offers the golfer a charming introduction to one of the prettiest golf course on the North West Coast of Tasmania. Vern Morcom who was also responsible for the Royal Hobart course designed the course. The current course record stands at 61 set by the Club’s Head Greenkeeper, Stuart Matthewson, during the Champion of Champions event held in 2004. “Woodrising” has been the venue for previous Tasmanian Opens: 1967 when Bob Stanton was successful, 1972 winner, Bill Dunk, in 1975 Stewart Ginn defeated Ross Metherill in a playoff, 1979 when the only overseas player to win the Tasmanian Open - Marty Bohen won comfortably, 1983 Bob Shaw was successful, 1989 Ian Stanley defeated Peter O’Malley in a play off. The 1998 winner was Geoff Ogilvie. Club President, Mr Phil Bain was re-elected in 2004 and the Secretary/Manager Mr Michael Stork joined the Club in late 2004.
