History
The beginnings of a club
The River Bann has been inextricably linked to the club over the years, not just because of the number of balls that have landed in it, but because it has always served as a picturesque backdrop to the club throughout its many moves.
The club was first established by a number of gentlemen at Lisniskey in 1900, on land that is now occupied by Craigavon Area Hospital. It became an organised club, affiliated to the Golfing Union of Ireland in 1905. Members played a six hole course with a flax-hole in the middle. In 1906 the lease run out and Portadown Golf Club made its first move across the Bann to Drumcree in 1907.
Drumcree 1907
A course was laid out in 1907 near Drumcree Parish Church and one of the stipulations of the lease was that one Saturday each summer would be given over to the Church of Ireland for its summer picnic and sports day.
