Extra info
This championship, parkland course lies 3 miles west of Dumbarton on the A814 and is one of the finest courses in the area. The course, on its present site, was designed by Willie Fernie of Troon and first opened in May 1904. It was an 18 hole, par 72, course measuring 4,973 yards. In 1921 the course was extended thanks in no small part to Maurice Denny, of Denny Shipbuilders in Dumbarton, who was the Captain of the Club at the time. James Braid, the celebrated professional from Walton Heath, was invited to redesign the layout of the upper course and work was completed by May 1921 and officially opened on 4th June 1921. Various changes and extensions to the course have been made over the years and the present 18 hole course measures 6,469 yards off the white tees with a Par of 71/SSS 72.
