Description: Davide Scabin's envelope-pushing restaurant Combal Zero is housed in the same glorious 13th Century castle as Turin's museum of contemporary art. There are spectacular views over Turin, majestic interiors and walls dripping with art, but increasingly the draw for visitors is Scabin's madcap cuisine. Scabin started out in 1993 in nearby Almese with his restaurant Combal, before relocating and renaming to Combal Zero in 2002. Part mad scientist, artist and culinary prankster, Scabin cocks a snook at Italian culinary norms, whipping up futuristic creations like 'zuppizza' (a deconstructed pizza), cyber eggs and virtual oysters. Presentation is part of the fun, with Scabin creating new dishes and implements for every dish. Look out for the 'hambook' with pages made of prosciutto and melon.
